The founder of KindnessAlert.co and her mission to foster kindness.

For a dose of welcome good news, check out kindnessalert.co, the heartwarming product of a noble idea that found its rightful platform on a fitting domain. Our partners at .co put together a feature of the site’s founder and kindness aficionado, Catherine Vaughan. Read on for an affecting take on her story and the domain that helped make her mark.

Catherine Vaughan wants to teach people to be kind, but not just that — she wants to cultivate goodwill and create a culture of kindness.

The true meaning of the kindness goes far beyond just being nice and kindnessalert.co is a place where you can find resources, blogs, and songs to help you embrace life and cultivate a kind mind.

As a child, Catherine always had a curiosity for science, spirituality and human behavior, after earning a Bachelor’s and two Master’s degrees in physical sciences, public policy, and ministry and studying photography she went on to explore different careers.

However, it wasn’t until 2019, that Catherine commenced her Kindness initiative as this captured her imagination and she became curious about kindness and mindfulness and the lack of awareness of it in daily life. She set out to explore the synchronicity between practicing mindfulness and becoming kind-minded.

It was then that she saw a need for mindful teaching, to educate people about treating others as they would want to be treated. With her passion for kindness Catherine pitched her kindness initiative at the 2016 and 2018 Evansville, Indiana Startup Weekend program in the .U.S.A, and in 2019 Catherine received feedback and she became more focused on her enterprising idea, “Clarity comes step-by-step as one action sets the stage for another” Catherine says.

That Startup Weekend also led her to choose the .co domain extension her website sits on, all participants received a domain offer and with her confidence in Porkbun, she decided to go for it before the offer expired.

Getting this initiative off the ground hasn’t all been smooth sailing for Catherine as she has ADHD and a limited support network, so running and managing a business doesn’t come easy and is difficult to monetize. However, Catherine says that her business journey has been a humbling learning experience. She practices what she preaches which is to pause, breathe and choose clarity, mindfulness, and kindness: “Surrender the ego. Be curious and courageous. Be led by love, not fear or greed or self-importance. Appreciate the power of this universal, creative force, this love that is infinite, eternal, and unconditional. In your life, work, and relationships, cultivate a kind mind, open heart, and joyful, resilient, vibrant spirit.”

Once kindness is felt and its power is understood, it is more likely to be reproduce. Earlier this month, Catherine entered her song “When I See Kindness in Your Eyes” in the 2021 Great American Song Contest. So, send positive energy to Catherine and her song… to ensure that we can all celebrate the kindness in our lives.
