OINK! We’ve got some news to share with you about some domain price increases from XYZ Registry. We know it’s not the happiest subject around, but you’re not going to want to miss this one. Take a good look to see how it impacts you!
First, we want to make sure it’s clear that we don’t love doing this, but as the coolest pigs on the block (i.e. your favorite domain registrar) it’s our duty to keep you updated on price increases as they happen.
The registry behind a number of domain extensions (called TLDs, if you’ve seen some of our other blog posts!) is increasing pricing industry-wide on September 2, 2024 at 2pm UTC. This impacts the pricing for many domain extensions and affects every registrar that offers these domains, not just us. This price increase includes registrations, renewals, and transfer fees.
Don’t worry, you don’t have to guess what’s happening! As always, we’ve got you covered with the info below.
What Can I Do To Avoid a Domain Name Price Increase?
Unfortunately, we can’t stop these domain name price increases from happening, but we will tell you what you can do to save some money before they happen!
- Already have one or more of these domain extensions? Lock in today’s price by renewing a domain name to the maximum of 10 years. This helps you avoid the price increase for as long as possible.
- Thinking of registering a new domain name with one of these TLDs? There’s no better time to buy a domain name you’ve been considering.
Our recommendation: Don’t delay! These domain price changes will be here before you know it. Renew your domains early or register new ones now to save yourself some money. You’ll be glad you did.
