However registries (the people who own Top Level Domains like .com, .org, .xyz) from time to time increase wholesale prices. As a low margin regsitrar, this often means our retail prices do increase as well. Ultimately, these changes affects every registrar that offers these domains, not just us, and often includes registrations, renewals, and transfers.
To try and keep you, our lovely Porkbun customers, as informed as possible about the cost of ownership for your domain name, we’ve compiled a table of all known price increases. The below data reflects what we estimate the price will be and what date you can expect your price to increase.
Is your domain increasing in price soon? Here’s some things you can do:
- You can always lock in today’s price by renewing it to the maximum of 10 years before the stated date in order to avoid the price increase for as long as possible.
- Looking for a new domain with one of these domain extensions? Now is the time to buy that domain name you’ve been eyeing.
- Do you have other domains with these extensions at a more expensive registrar? Now is the time to transfer, and don’t worry, you don’t lose any time you’ve already paid for.
