Each year on March 31, we honor International Transgender Day of Visibility (TDoV), a time where .gay comes together to celebrate and lift up Trans and non-binary people around the globe while acknowledging the courage it takes to live openly and authentically.
.gay domains, our community partners, and other advocates also mark this day by raising awareness around discrimination and violence that Transgender people face.
The Human Rights Campaign estimates that there are more than 2 million transgender people across the United States. TDOV allows us all to honor the joy and resilience of Trans people everywhere. It allows the unique voices and identities of all Transgender people to be elevated and celebrated. It is through the power of human connection and understanding that we can create real change in the world.
While we recognize our gains as a community this TDOV, we also know there is much more work to be done. Transgender and non-binary people continue to face legislative and executive attacks across the United States as well as an ongoing epidemic of violence against Trans and non-binary people, especially against Black and Brown Transgender women. Today, on TDOV, and every day, we celebrate all Trans people everywhere, while helping others learn more about the trans experience to combat hate, discrimination and misinformation.
